THE 8-BIT DOODLE was inspired by vintage video games, including favorites such as Space Invaders, Galaga, and Pac Man!

The 20 8-Bit Charts include aliens, ghosts, health bar hearts, insects, spaceships, and more!

This listing is for a DIGITAL DOWNLOAD for a FULL PATTERN. To view additional options, please see 8-Bit Doodle Collection. Note that the 8-Bit Doodle is only available as a Full Pattern for a hat or a cowl. It is not available in a Doodle Deck. 

This is a Doodle Series Pattern, which means it includes micro charts intended to be used as mix-and-match colorwork motifs throughout the project. Use the charts in this pattern, or you can substitute ANY other Doodle charts!

This pattern is knit in the round. After the ribbing, you'll knit a series of colorwork motifs, before ending with a standard crown decrease.

SIZES

Approx. 8, 9 (10, 10) in [20, 22 (25, 25) cm] finished height.

Approx. 12, 16 (20, 24) in [30, 40 (50, 60) cm] finished circumference.

YARN

Any DK, light worsted, or sport weight yarn that meets gauge. Doodles are designed to use leftover yarn, yarn advents, or any other small batches of colorways in your stash. Yarn shown is a suggestion from the Designer. Alternative yarns are encouraged.

Sample uses yarn from Seismic Yarn. 

Yardage listed in total yards per size in colorwork due to the customizable nature of this pattern. 

  • 200-320 yards
  • 180-292 meters

NEEDLES

US 5/3.75 mm or size needed to obtain gauge

16 in [40 cm] circular needles + DPN or Magic Loop for crown decreases

GAUGE

24 sts & 24 rounds per 4 in [10 cm] in colorwork

NOTIONS

Removable stitch markers (one in different color)

Scissors & Tapestry needle

SPECIAL TECHNIQUES

Special techniques include stranded colorwork in the round, decreases and ribbing.
